Detailed 3-Day Nyungwe Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Your driver guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to Nyungwe Forest National Park in southwest Rwanda. The drive takes about 5 to 6 hours with stops at places like Nyanza Palace, the Ethnographic Museum, and other interesting sites in the countryside.

You will arrive at Nyungwe in the afternoon. Check into your lodge and have lunch. After some rest, you can take a guided nature walk or relax at the lodge and enjoy the surroundings. Overnight at the lodge.

Day 2: Nyungwe Forest National Park – Chimpanzee trekking & canopy walk

Start very early with a light breakfast and then drive to the park head office for a briefing about chimpanzee trekking. After the briefing, you will enter the montane forest with a park ranger and guides to look for the playful chimpanzees. Along the way, watch for other primates and many bird species that live in the forest.

Spend one hour with the chimpanzees, then return to the lodge for lunch. Later, go for the famous canopy walk above the forest for a new view. Return to the lodge for the night.

Day 3: Departure to Kigali

This is the last day of your Nyungwe chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk safari. You will be driven back to Kigali and dropped off at the airport or your hotel.
