Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali – Nyungwe Forest National Park
Airport or hotel pick-up after breakfast from Kigali and drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park in southwest Rwanda. Enjoy the scenic drive with stopovers along the way to visit the National Museum, other places of interest, and a lunch stopover in Huye. Arrive in Nyungwe later in the day, check into your lodge, freshen up, and have a relaxing evening. Overnight at the lodge in Nyungwe.
Day 2: Nyungwe Forest – Chimp trekking and Canopy walk
Go for chimpanzee trekking in the evergreen Nyungwe Forest, which is also home to 12 other primate species and hundreds of bird species. You will be up early to enter the forest in search of the chimpanzees.
Enjoy your trek and notice your surroundings for other wildlife sightings. Return from the forest for lunch at your lodge and later go for the canopy walk to have a view of the forest from above. Overnight at your lodge.
Day 3: Nyungwe Forest – Colobus Monkey Trekking
One of the habituated colobus monkey groups in Nyungwe Forest has about 200 individuals. You will be up early, go for briefing before you enter the forest to trek the colobus monkeys.
Be ready for an active and playful encounter. Lunch back at your lodge, and have the rest of the day to yourself, or you can opt for a community visit or a nature walk. Overnight at your lodge.
Day 4: End of Safari
Enjoy a relaxed morning at the lodge as you have your breakfast, after which you will drive back to Kigali. You will be dropped off at the hotel or the airport, marking the end of your Nyungwe chimps, canopy, and colobus monkey trekking safari.
