Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: City tour and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After your breakfast, before driving to Volcanoes National Park, you will have a tour of Kigali city, visiting cultural and historical places like the Genocide Memorial Center and others. You will arrive at Volcanoes National Park in the late afternoon. Check in and relax at your lodge.
Day 2: Volcanoes National Park – Gorilla trekking
Wake up and have an early breakfast. Then drive to Kinigi park offices for a briefing and allocation of a gorilla family to trek. Meet the mountain gorillas of Volcanoes National Park after 2 to 6 hours of trekking and spend one hour with them. After the trek and your lunch, visit the Gorilla Guardians Village. Return to your lodge for the night.
Day 3: Flight to Nairobi, Kenya
Depart from Volcanoes National Park in the morning and drive to Kigali International Airport for your flight to Kenya. You will be welcomed by your safari guide who will drive you to a hotel in Nairobi for the night.
Day 4: Nairobi to Maasai Mara National Reserve
Drive to Maasai Mara National Reserve in southern Kenya. You will have lunch on arrival at your safari camp. After some rest, go for an introductory game drive in the Mara plains.
Day 5: Game drive in Maasai Mara National Reserve
Take game drives around Maasai Mara during the cooler hours of the day when animals are more active. Have an early morning game drive and a late afternoon to evening game drive. Explore different parts of the reserve and visit the Mara River. Look out for the Big Five, different types of antelopes, monkeys, predators, and birds.
Day 6: Back to Nairobi – End of safari
After breakfast, enjoy one last game drive as you exit Maasai Mara National Reserve. You will be dropped off at the airport in Nairobi.
