6-Day Gorilla & Masai Mara Safari | Rwanda to Kenya Tour

This 6-day safari takes you to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. Start with a city tour in Kigali, then travel to Volcanoes National Park for gorilla trekking and a visit to the Gorilla Guardians Village.

Fly to Nairobi and stay overnight. Next, drive to Masai Mara National Reserve for game drives to see the Big Five, antelopes, predators, and birds.

Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives and visit the Mara River. On the last day, take a final game drive before heading back to Nairobi for your flight home.

Detailed 6-Day Rwanda Gorillas & Masai Mara Safari Itinerary

Day 1: City tour and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, you will take a tour of Kigali city. Visit cultural and historical sites like the Genocide Memorial Center and others. Later, drive to Volcanoes National Park.

You will arrive in the late afternoon. Check in and rest at your lodge.

Day 2: Volcanoes National Park – Gorilla trekking

Wake up early and have breakfast. Drive to the Kinigi park offices for a briefing and to be assigned a gorilla family to trek. After 2 to 6 hours of trekking, meet the mountain gorillas and spend one hour with them.

After the trek and lunch, visit the Gorilla Guardians Village. Return to your lodge for the night.

Day 3: Flight to Nairobi, Kenya

In the morning, leave Volcanoes National Park and drive to Kigali International Airport. Fly to Kenya. Your safari guide will welcome you and drive you to a hotel in Nairobi for the night.

Day 4: Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve

Drive to Maasai Mara National Reserve in southern Kenya. Have lunch when you arrive at your safari camp. After resting, go for a short game drive in the Mara plains.

Day 5: Game drive in Masai Mara National Reserve

Take game drives during the cooler parts of the day when animals are more active. Enjoy an early morning drive and another in the late afternoon to evening. Visit different parts of the reserve and the Mara River. Look for the Big Five, many types of antelope, monkeys, predators, and birds.
