Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up to Volcanoes National Park
Your safari driver guide will pick you up on arrival from the airport and drive you to Volcanoes National Park. Depending on your arrival time into the country, you could take a short tour of the famous Kigali city.
Day 2: Volcanoes National Park – Gorilla trekking and Gorilla Guardians Village
Trek the mountain gorillas early in the morning. After the trek, you will visit the Gorilla Guardians Village for a guided cultural visit. There are over 10 habituated gorilla families in Volcanoes National Park, and you will be assigned to one of the families for your trek. Enjoy the surroundings and some bird sightings.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Uganda
Early in the morning after your breakfast, you will be transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda, one of the two homes of mountain gorillas in Uganda, the other being Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, which is next to Volcanoes National Park. Cross the border into Uganda on a scenic drive with hills in sight.
Day 4: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Gorilla trekking and Batwa Community visit
Spend one hour with the gorillas before returning from the dense forest. Enjoy bird sightings of some Albertine Rift endemics while on the trek. Visit the Batwa community for a cultural tour.
Day 5: End of the gorilla safari
You will drive back to Rwanda for a drop-off at the airport in Kigali.
