It is always a special experience while on safari in Rwanda, with each day full of hills, mountains, rivers, wild animals, and the happy local people who make your stay meaningful.
On your trip, you will have the opportunity to see different wild animals, including carnivores, herbivores, primates, and birds found in every corner of national parks such as Akagera, Nyungwe, Volcanoes, and many others.
Visit Akagera National Park during the morning hours and see the Big Five (elephants, lions, leopards, etc.) as you enjoy your drive through the green surroundings that move with the wind.
In the afternoon, the fresh air from the volcanoes will invite you to one of the best birding spots, where you will see bird species such as Red-collared Babbler, Handsome Francolin, Purple-breasted Sunbird, Rwenzori Turaco, Kivu Ground Thrush, Neumann’s Warbler, Rwenzori Nightjar, Shelley’s Crimsonwing, Red-faced Barbet, and Papyrus Gonolek, among others, giving you a good chance for photographs and filming.
Better late than never, take this chance to visit some of the beautiful lodges in Rwanda, fully designed with nice architecture and a touch of African art. These include Virunga Lodge, One&Only Nyungwe House, Wilderness Bisate Lodge, Singita Kwitonda Lodge, Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel, Wilderness Magashi Camp, Mountain Gorilla View Lodge, One&Only Gorilla’s Nest, Ruzizi Tented Lodge, Kigali Serena Hotel, Akagera Rhino Lodge, and many others.
Visit the different historical sites within Kigali that hold memories of the 1994 genocide, where thousands of people lost their lives. You will see some graves and the remains of these people, a very sad story that you would never wish anyone to experience. These places include Kigali Genocide Memorial, Murambi Genocide Memorial Site, Gisozi Memorial Site, Nyamata Memorial Site, Gisenyi Memorial Site, Nyanza Memorial Site, Ntarama Memorial Site, Nyarubuye Memorial Site, and many others.
Transport is either by air or road, but most people prefer road transport as it is cheap and flexible, allowing stopovers. Make sure to get the required documents if you plan to hire a private car, otherwise, you may be imprisoned. Note that polythene bags are banned, so before entering the country, make sure you leave them at home.
Do not blink while in Rwanda because you might miss the most exciting adventures.
