Travel rules must be respected when you want to enter another country, whether for business or tourism. If you book with us, we advise you on how to plan correctly. Below are the foreign travel procedures for visitors with passports from different countries:
A valid passport is a must. It should be valid for at least six months after the date of arrival and must have at least one blank page for entry stamps. You will be denied entry if you use a passport that has been reported lost or stolen. That is why you are advised to double-check your documents before traveling to avoid wasting money.
A visa is also required if you are not a citizen of an East African Community (EAC) member state. EAC countries include Kenya, Burundi, Uganda, Tanzania, and South Sudan.
For Rwanda, you can get a visa upon arrival if you are a citizen of Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, or Sweden. This visa is free of charge if you stay in the country for up to six months. For other nationals, you are requested to purchase your visa in advance before entering Rwanda. The visa fee is $50 for a tourist staying up to 30 days. Note that credit cards are not accepted at any land border crossings.
Health requirements are very important, especially for visitors coming from countries with active yellow fever outbreaks. A certificate showing proof of yellow fever vaccination is required. Without it, you will be deported.
To enter Rwanda, you must also show proof of stable financial funds that will support you during your stay. Without proof of financial ability, you may face trouble at the check-in point.
A return ticket is needed to show that you plan to return to your home country. You are advised to purchase a return ticket instead of a one-way ticket to avoid extra costs.
If you want to change the class or status of your visa, you must apply to the Director General. All information will be provided to you about whether it is approved or not. However, tourists are allowed to visit any tourist destination within Rwanda.
For citizens under the East African Community, you are advised to carry your passport, national ID, and yellow fever vaccination card when crossing borders.
Plan well in advance before arriving at any entry point.
