Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali – Akagera National Park – Boat ride
Pick up from the airport or your hotel in Kigali and transfer to Akagera National Park. On the way, have a short city tour of Kigali if time allows, visiting places like the Kigali Genocide Memorial, museums, and art and craft centers.
Drive to Akagera National Park, reaching in the afternoon. Check into your safari lodge and have lunch.
After lunch, you will be driven to Lake Ihema, the second biggest lake in Rwanda, for a boat trip where you will spot crocodiles and hippos in the water, water birds, and some animals feeding and cooling their bodies at the shores like waterbucks, elephants, and more.
Return to your safari lodge for overnight.
Day 2: Game drives in Akagera National Park
Explore Akagera National Park on a full-day game drive, driving to different parts of the park in search of lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, impalas, antelopes, leopards, hyenas, rhinos, oribis, and more, including many different bird species that live in the park.
Have lunch and continue exploring the park or choose to go on a guided community visit to the villages near the park. Overnight at your safari lodge.
Day 3: Departure to Kigali
Optional hot air balloon safari early in the morning. After breakfast, you will exit the park and drive back to Kigali for a drop-off at the airport for your flight back home.
