Detailed 4-Day Nyungwe Forest Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali to Nyungwe Forest National Park

After breakfast, you will be picked up from the airport or hotel in Kigali and driven to Nyungwe Forest National Park in southwest Rwanda.

Enjoy the scenic drive with stops along the way to visit the National Museum and other places of interest.

Have lunch in Huye. Arrive at Nyungwe later in the day, check into your lodge, freshen up, and relax in the evening. Overnight at the lodge.

Day 2: Nyungwe Forest – Chimp trekking & canopy walk

Start early to go chimpanzee trekking in the evergreen Nyungwe Forest. This forest is home to chimpanzees, 12 other primate species, and many bird species. Enjoy your trek and watch for other wildlife around you.

Return to your lodge for lunch, then later go for the canopy walk to see the forest from above. Overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Nyungwe Forest – Colobus monkey trekking

One of the colobus monkey groups in Nyungwe has about 200 monkeys. You will start early with a briefing, then enter the forest to track the colobus monkeys. Expect an active and playful encounter.

After lunch at the lodge, you can relax or choose to visit a community or take a nature walk. Overnight at the lodge.

Day 4: End of Tour

Enjoy a relaxed morning at the lodge with breakfast. Then drive back to Kigali. You will be dropped off at your hotel or the airport, ending your Nyungwe chimps, canopy, and colobus monkey trekking safari.
