Gorilla Photography in Rwanda – Capture Wild Moments in Volcanoes Park

If you want to show your friends back home that you once shared the same space and air with the famous mountain gorillas in Rwanda, try gorilla photography. You will capture amazing scenes in Volcanoes National Park, which is mainly covered with short grass and bamboo, unlike other parks in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Cameras with flash are not allowed in any national park with gorillas because these animals are sensitive and can get irritated easily. Flash can make them angry and cause attacks on you or your group.

This is why it is very important to follow the rules and regulations. After you follow the rules, you can enjoy this special experience. Hiking in Volcanoes National Park is easier because the slopes are not as steep as in other parks.

Another important rule is to keep a distance of at least 7 meters from the gorillas to stay safe. Remember to carry extra batteries or fully charge your camera to avoid disappointment. When you reach the gorilla habitat, use the one hour you have wisely to observe and take photos of these giant apes.

To take part in gorilla trekking, you need to pay a reasonable fee. Adults pay $1500 per person. Children under 15 and anyone with an infectious disease that spreads through the air are not allowed, to protect the gorillas.

If you think carrying your camera and equipment will be hard, you can hire a porter for a small fee.

Gorilla trekking lasts the whole day, and you can choose your preferred date. It is best to book during the dry months, which have little or no rain. These months are from June to September and from December to February.

Don’t forget to bring snacks, bottled water, a good camera, sunscreen, a hat, garden gloves, long-sleeved clothes, insect repellent to protect you from jungle insects, and a rain jacket.

Most visitors travel by road to Volcanoes National Park, which is in northwest Rwanda. The trip takes only two to three hours, making the park easy to reach.
