Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali to Nyungwe Forest National Park – Birding
Early morning pick-up from your hotel in Kigali and drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park on a 6 to 7-hour drive with stopovers at different places of attraction along the way, like the Nyanza Palace.
Reach the park in the afternoon, have lunch, and after head out into the forest for an afternoon birding experience, expecting to see birds like handsome francolin, Rwenzori batis, stripe-breasted tit, and Kungwe apalis, among others. Drive back to the lodge for the night.
Day 2: Birding in Nyungwe Forest
Have your breakfast and set out to the green dense Nyungwe Forest for a rewarding bird-watching experience. Enjoy the cool fresh environment of the forest as you look out for birds like purple-breasted sunbird, archer’s robin-chat, yellow-rumped tinkerbird, Rwenzori hill babbler, great blue turaco, red-throated alethe, regal sunbird, barred long-tailed cuckoo, thick-billed seedeater, olive woodpecker, cinnamon bracken warbler, Shelley’s crimsonwing, yellow-eyed black flycatcher, Albertine owlet, and mountain sooty boubou, among many others. Overnight back at the lodge.
Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali
On the last day of your bird-watching tour in Nyungwe Forest National Park, you can choose to go for a canopy walk or an early morning chimpanzee trekking experience. Drive back to Kigali to mark the end of your birding tour with a drop-off at the airport.
